Little Rider

Little Rider

Little rider down the hill,
Come through the trees, through the chill,
Through the night so dark and still,
     Steady find your way.

We almost see your glowing face,
From afar, through time and space,
As you start your mortal race,
     Beneath the dawning gray!

Ivan riding through the veil
Tiny traveler on mortal trail,
Far plains to cross and peaks to scale,
     The journey's underway!

So grasp the reins in tiny hands,
Ahead your earthly signpost stands,
It points to heights and distant lands,
     Young Messenger of the Day!

So riding and strong and holding tight,
You ride into our homestead light!
We celebrate your ride tonight,
You're home, and here to stay!

For Ivan

This sweet poem was written the morning Ivan was born by my amazing Dad, who is currently a mission President in Russia. I absolutely love it! I love you Pops!
