Potty Training

Well folks, we're officially potty training over here!
We're on day two and so far we've only had one accident and lots of successes.

Even though Ivan is just over 2, I feel like he's totally ready for this!
His little potty has been sitting in our bathroom for several months now. He understood the concept of going on the potty and tried a lot (his own idea!) but was never successful.

Last week I was getting Ivan undressed and into the bathtub when he said "Me pee!"
I said, "You need to pee??" "Yeah!"
So he willingly sat down on the potty and, sure enough, he peed!
He did it again that night before bed.
And the following days he successfully went in the potty 3-4 times each day. While also keeping a dry diaper for the majority of the day!

So we decided that was ready!
Monday morning I surprised him with a Daniel Tiger Potty Book and a Daniel Tiger stuffed animal!
(I figured it cost less than another box of diapers, so it was worth a shot! haha)

We spent the morning playing with Daniel Tiger and teaching him out to use the potty.
Ivan helped put sticker's on Daniel's potty chart, and willingly ate his potty treats for him.
We read, watched shows, played, started eating lots of snacks and drinking water and juice.

Then after watching an episode of Thomas the Train while I showered quick,
Ivan opened up his own big boy underwear!
(with Thomas the Train on them)

His one accident happened soon after we put his big boy underwear on.
Since then we've steered clear of accidents, but I've been obsessively asking if he needs to go every 20-30 minutes. haha
This morning, after asking if he needs to go constantly for a couple hours, and after several failed attempts on the potty, Ivan walked back to the bathroom all on his own and went! Wahoo!

Here's to hoping he keeps this up!
